WASHINGTON—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement on the mosque attack during Sunday evening prayers in Quebec City:

“I’m appalled by the horrific terrorist attack at the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Centre during Sunday evening prayers, which claimed the lives of six individuals and injured eight others.  These innocent people were simply in a place of worship and refuge, and my heart goes out to the families and friends of all the victims.  In the wake of this attack, we must stand by our Canadian friends against anyone who targets innocent people or seeks to divide our communities.  We will not allow them to succeed.”
