WASHINGTON—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement regarding the Administration's announcement of new sanctions against individuals and entities who have supported Iran's ballistic-missile program and facilitated Iranian-sponsored terrorism:

"The Administration is doing the right thing by imposing new sanctions related to Iran's ballistic-missile program and support for terrorism.

"While Iran's nuclear program is hopefully paused for the duration of the nuclear deal, other dangerous actions continue. Iranian-supported terrorism destabilizes the region, and its ballistic-missile program sets the stage for delivering a nuclear weapon should Iran choose to build one.

"Iran's recent ballistic-missile tests directly contravened the expressed purpose of the UN Security Council and were meant to test our resolve. Iran made its intentions crystal clear by engraving their missiles with a threat to wipe Israel off the pages of history.

"Iran's leaders insisted that their ballistic-missile program and support for terrorism be off the table during the nuclear negotiations. Now they have to face the music as we act to target this behavior and those who support it."
