"Prime Minister Abe was a pivotal figure for modern Japan and an ardent supporter of the U.S.-Japan alliance. His leadership elevated Japan’s stature on the global stage and advanced peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and across the world. Prime Minister Abe’s vision for Japan and the region will continue to have a tremendous impact long after his untimely and tragic passing. The United States joins his family and the people of Japan in mourning the loss of a great leader and friend.”
