New York City — Representatives Gregory W. Meeks, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and Jonathan Jackson, Democratic Members on the Africa Subcommittee, yesterday met with Democratic Republic of the Congo President Felix Tshisekedi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly High Level Week.

Ranking Member Meeks and President Tshisekedi affirmed their desire to achieve a peaceful, just, and sustainable resolution to the conflict in eastern Congo. The leaders also discussed efforts to strengthen Central Africa’s critical mineral supply chains to benefit the Congolese people and develop the region’s economy.
