Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Howard L. Berman, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement after participating in the White House bill signing ceremony for the U.S.-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act.

The House bill was introduced by House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and cosponsored by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Ranking Member Howard Berman (D-CA). The Senate bill was authored by Senator Boxer (D-CA) and Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA).

The legislation includes continued congressional support for Iron Dome funding, as well as the extension of loan guarantees for Israel, to name a few of the provisions.

"Today with the President’s signature, we have reaffirmed both in word and in action that Israel has no better friend than the United States. In defending Israel, Democrats and Republicans working together made clear that Israel's security is our security, that the Jewish state is the beachhead of freedom and democracy in a region lacking in both. We will never let Israel down and will always be committed to its defense here in Washington, at the United Nations, in the Middle East, and beyond. This is an unbreakable pledge to Israel's friends and foes alike."
