Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced the following schedule for the month of April.

Events that are not closed to the public will be accessible via the Committee’s website and YouTube page. All Committee events are subject to change at any time due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • April 8 at 5:00 p.m., ET: The Committee and the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission (TLHRC) will convene their members for a roundtable entitled, “Human Rights and Accountability: A Conversation with the Filmmakers of ‘The Dissident.’” Available to the public on the TLHRC website & YouTube channel.

  • April 14 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, Migration and International Economic Policy will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, “Renewing the United States’ Commitment to Addressing the Root Causes of Migration from Central America.”

  • April 14 at 2:00 p.m., ET:  The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene its members for a briefing entitled, “Cyber Diplomacy in Action: A Transatlantic Response to the Solar Winds Attack.” Closed to the public

  • April 15 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Middle East, North Africa and Global Counterterrorism will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, “10 Years of War: Examining the Ongoing Conflict in Syria.” 

  • April 15 at 3:30 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, The Pacific, Central Asia, and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a briefing on COVID-19 vaccine diplomacy. Closed to the public. 

  • April 16 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations, and Global Corporate Social Impact will convene for a hybrid hearing entitled, “Innovation in Development Policy: Maximizing Impact and Results.”
     
  • April 19 at 4:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene its members for a briefing entitled, “ Cyber 101.” Closed to the public.

  • April 20 at 11:30 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a briefing on China. Closed to the public.

  • April 20 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, “Restoration of the Transatlantic Dialogue: A Series on the Global Fight Against Climate Change.”

  • April 21 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Middle East, North Africa and Global Counterterrorism will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, “The Crisis in Yemen: Part 2.”  

  • April 21 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene for a virtual markup of various measures.

  • April 22 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a briefing on Afghanistan. Closed to the public. 

  • April 27 at 2:00 p.m., ET: Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Global Human Rights will convene for a virtual hearing entitled “The Effect of Climate Change in Africa.”

  • April 28 at 11:30 a.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a briefing entitled” Restoring U.S. Diplomacy and the Department of State: A Conversation with Former Secretaries”. Closed to the public.

  • April 28 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a briefing on Mexico. Closed to the public.
