Meeks, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Sara Jacobs, along with Senators Ben Cardin, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Cory Booker, issued the following statement after the Biden Administration announced the appointment of Tom Perriello as U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan.
“We welcome the Administration’s announcement of a high-level Special Envoy for Sudan as called for by S.Con.Res.24 and H.Res.982.
“Having served as Special Envoy for the Great Lakes during the Obama Administration, former Congressman Tom Perriello has a strong track record of diligently working to find solutions to intractable conflicts in Africa, and we look forward to working with him to develop a sustainable path toward peace for the people of Sudan.”
