Washington D.C. – Congressman Eliot Engel, the senior Democratic Member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the terrorist attack at a Pakistani church in which 81 people were killed.

“I share my deepest condolences with the families and friends of those whose loved ones were killed or injured in Sunday’s attack at the All Saints Church in Peshawar, Pakistan. Unfortunately, such attacks, whether at places of worship or other areas frequented by civilians have become all too familiar in Peshawar and throughout much of Pakistan. I’m heartened by the outpouring of support for the often-targeted Christian community by leaders across Pakistan, but such support must also be followed-up by holding those responsible for such heinous acts accountable. Unless Pakistan is able to demonstrate that consequences exist for attacks against Christians or anyone for that matter, these attacks will unfortunately continue.”
