Washington, DC - Today, Representatives Gregory W. Meeks, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Ted Deutch, Chair of the Middle East, North Africa and Global Counterterrorism Subcommittee, released the following joint statement following news of a two-month truce in Yemen:

 “We welcome news of a two-month truce to the Yemen conflict. This is an important step for millions of Yemenis suffering as a result of this conflict, as well as Saudis and Emiratis subject to cross-border attacks. We also applaud news of humanitarian measures included in the announcement, vital to the livelihood of Yemeni civilians. 

 “We call on all parties to abide by its terms and take the opportunity to make progress on a political process towards a negotiated settlement to this brutal war.”
