WASHINGTON, DC—Representative Eliot L. Engel, the leading Democrat on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement regarding the formation of a new government in Kosovo:
“Yesterday’s formation of a new government in Kosovo is very good news. In June, the people of Kosovo went to the polls, chose their leaders, and reaffirmed their commitment to democracy, and I congratulate them on the formation of the new government.
"This February, the Republic of Kosovo celebrates seven years of independence, and I look forward to working with the new government on the crucial issues which it must address: advancing Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic Integration, adding more recognition, strengthening reforms, fighting corruption, and further normalizing Kosovo-Serbia relations.
"The United States continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with people of Kosovo, and I look forward to working with this new government to meet the challenges ahead.”
