WASHINGTON—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement:

“It’s clear that Russia is guilty of recurrent and egregious violations of the INF Treaty. These dangerous breaches of the agreement undermine the Transatlantic security architecture and constrain regional progress toward stability. However, our immediate task should be to work with our European allies to bring Russia back into compliance, not to unilaterally withdraw from the Treaty. We must act responsibly and do everything we can to minimize the risk of rekindling an arms race.”
