WASHINGTON—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today praised passage in the House of Representatives of a resolution he authored underscoring the importance of a United States-Mexico partnership based on mutual respect (H.Res.336). The resolution calls for the deepening of our relationship through increased security and economic cooperation.
“After more than a decade of good progress in the U.S.-Mexico partnership, this year we’ve seen a troubling change of course from the Trump Administration,” said Rep. Engel. “It’s hard to overstate the importance of the U.S.-Mexico relationship and its daily impact on the lives of Americans. Mexico is our friend and ally, and today’s passage of H.Res.336 sends a clear message that Congress rejects all efforts to downgrade our country’s strategic partnership with Mexico.”
