WASHINGTON, DC—Representative Eliot L. Engel, the leading Democrat on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today released the following statement regarding the release of the State Department's Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR).

“I want to congratulate Secretary Kerry and Special Envoy Periello and their team on the release of the State Department’s Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review. The document represents a vast amount of thinking on how to make the Department of State and the Agency for International Development—two institutions that are critical to U.S. foreign policy and national security—leaders in 21st century diplomacy and development work.

“As the Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I look forward to digesting the report’s findings in the coming days and working with the Administration to make sure both State and AID are well-prepared, whether through enhanced use of data and technology, or improving the way we recruit, train and incentivize the workforce, to deal with the many challenges facing the United States.”
