“I applaud the President’s choice of Deborah Birx as Ambassador at Large and Coordinator of United States Government Activities to Combat HIV/AIDS Globally. As Director of the Division of Global HIV/AIDS in the Center for Global Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Ms. Birx has been a dedicated force in efforts to eliminate the global scourge of HIV/AIDS. I call on my colleagues in the Senate to consider her appointment as quickly as possible, and look forward to working with her closely upon her confirmation.”
