Washington D.C. – Ranking Member Eliot Engel, the senior Democratic member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement regarding his new social media initiative, #AskEngel, which the Committee on Foreign Affairs will debut today at noon via Twitter.

“Social media has become the universal platform for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in dialogue and share and exchange ideas. Leaders have a responsibility to partake in that dialogue. As the Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, I’m starting an initiative on Twitter, #AskEngel, where once or twice a month I will take questions from Committee followers and answer them via a short video. I encourage anyone interested about the United States’ role in foreign policy to participate and I look forward to receiving the public’s questions.”

In order to submit questions to Ranking Member Engel, participants will pose their questions using “#AskEngel” to the Foreign Affairs Committee Twitter account, @HFACDemocrats. Congressman Engel will then respond to questions in video segments, which will be posted on the Committee’s YouTube and Twitter accounts.
