WASHINGTON, DC— Representative Eliot L. Engel, the leading Democrat on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement regarding the return of American POW Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl:

"After five years, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is coming home to a grateful nation. As the war in Afghanistan draws to a close, his return is a reminder to us of the courage and sacrifice of all our men and women in uniform, and the costs of defending liberty and advancing justice. We owe it to all our service members to take care of them as well as they have taken care of us. And while we celebrate his release, we must rededicate ourselves to the safe return of all Americans who remain missing."
