WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Howard L. Berman, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement in support of today’s Supreme Court ruling allowing federal courts to rule on Jerusalem Passport case.

The decision signifies a victory for the family of Menachem Zivotofsky who has called on the State Department to list Jerusalem, Israel as the birthplace of their son.

“I strongly commend the Supreme Court's decision to allow the federal court to consider whether American citizens born in Jerusalem can list Israel on their passports. As the signer of an amicus brief filed with the court, I know the battle is not over – we will continue fighting to protect this law as the case is heard before a lower court. American citizens born in Israel should have the right that citizens born anywhere else enjoy – to have their birthplace accurately reflected on their passport."
