Washington, DC – Representatives Gregory W. Meeks and Michael McCaul, Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, along with Albio Sires and Mark Green, Chairman and Ranking Member of the Western Hemisphere, Civilian Security, Migration and International Economic Policy Subcommittee, issued the following joint statement in response to the assassination attempt against Argentine Vice President Cristina Kirchner:

“We condemn in the strongest terms the assassination attempt against Vice President Cristina Kirchner. We are grateful that the Vice President was unharmed and is doing well. We will do all we can to support the Argentine government conduct a swift and thorough investigation.”
