WASHINGTON—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, made the following statement regarding yesterday’s terrorist attack in Jerusalem:

“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack that claimed four lives in Jerusalem yesterday, and my heart goes out to all those affected.  The people of Israel live under the constant threat of terrorism, and this sort of violence will always be a roadblock to peace in the region.  The United States stands with our ally Israel in the wake of this bloodshed, and we are committed to ensuring Israel’s security over the long term.  I hope those responsible for this attack are quickly brought to justice.”
