Washington, DC — Representative Gregory W. Meeks, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement regarding settler violence in the West Bank:
“I condemn the brutal settler attacks on American photojournalist Heidi Levine, European diplomats, and Palestinian olive harvesters in the West Bank.
”Prime Minister Netanyahu must act now to stop settler violence, protect civilians, and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
”The impunity must end. If entrusted with the House Foreign Affairs Committee gavel next Congress, I will advance the West Bank Violence Prevention Act to impose targeted sanctions on those who commit or support this violence. Those responsible must face consequences.”
