Dear Colleague: Business Leaders Support Action on Climate Change - Accenture CEO Report
A new report from a major American corporation provides further confirmation that business leaders want action on climate change. In a recent survey of 750 corporate CEOs, the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact) and Accenture found that 91 percent of business leaders believe that climate change is an urgent priority for business and that 69 percent of the leaders of the world’s largest companies see investment in climate solutions as essential to their competitive advantage.
It’s clear that companies in the United States and around the world are not only aware of the serious problem of climate change, but that they also see vast opportunities in a strong response. Congress needs to catch up with reality and help our businesses compete by supporting strong climate action. The upcoming 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris will provide an opportunity for global leaders to forge a long term agreement on meaningful climate action, which the business community views as critical to private sector investment in a low carbon future.
